AUNT JEMIMA was born in Montgomery Co., Kentucky in 1834. Her real name was Nancy Green. At the Chicago World's Fair in 1893, a man named Chris L. Rut (creator of the pancake mix) used a Black woman named Nancy Green to serve his pancakes. She became very popular and remained with the company until she was accidentally killed in 1923 by an automobile.
