This highly anticipated fundraising event will be held on
Thursday, June 19th, in honor of
Juneteenth, at Cortland Mansion in Hagerstown, Maryland.
This year’s celebration is extra special as we honor two individuals whose lives exemplify the values and mission of the Doleman Black
Heritage Museum:
- Celebrating the 60th Birthday of DBHM President, Ms. Phoebe Harris
- 2025 Community Achievement Award Honoree: Mr. David A. Washington
- 2025 Outstanding Military Service Award Honoree: [Honoree’s Name To Be Announced)
The Ball offers an unforgettable night featuring:
- Live music reminiscent of Harlem’s historic Cotton Club
- Heavy hors d’oeuvres
- Professional portraits
- Raffles and more!
Individual tickets are
$100 and can be reserved now. VIP table sponsorships are available for
$1,000, which includes admission for 10
guests and recognition at the event.

Why We Celebrate, Why We Fundraise
In today’s uncertain political climate, funding for nonprofit organizations like the Doleman Black Heritage Museum has become increasingly
challenging. The Friends of DBHM—a dedicated volunteer group—continue to support the museum’s daily operations and future home
projects through community-driven efforts. Your help is needed now more than ever!

Volunteer Opportunities
At the Museum: We are seeking volunteers with creative backgrounds in design to assist with preparations for our new exhibit, which
features restored and reimagined stained glass windows and photographs donated by Second Christian Church and Ebenezer AME
Church-Hagerstown. The restoration was entrusted to The Glass Loft and Howard’s Arts and Supplies.

Friday, June 20 – Praise and Worship at Wheaton Park (7:00–9:00 PM)– We are inviting church choirs, soloists, clergy for community prayer, inspirational readers, and interpretive dancers.
Saturday, June 21 – Celebration of Survival at Wheaton Park (12:00–9:30 PM)Volunteers are needed for face painting and dance instruction (with a fun focus on social media dance challenges!).
Sunday, June 22 – Exhibit Unveiling at the Museum (5:00–7:00 PM)– Be a part of this historic moment.
